Today, the 100th year’s of Afghan- German relationship celebrated in Afghanistan. The good relation of Afghan-German goes back to 1916s with the establishment of initial contacts between the governments of the German Reich and the Emirate of Afghanistan.

Germany and Afghanistan have a historical tradition of state cooperation. The first diplomatic relations signed in 1919, and since then the two countries have been cooperating closely in different areas.

In post-2001 international intervention, Germany has been one of the sustainable contributor and key player of Afghanistan’s reconstruction in humanitarian aid, developmental and institutional arenas.

Both German’s developmental cooperation and cultural-political foundations launched their programs to support Afghans not only to rebuild their country but also to contribute for a peaceful environment where Afghan women and men enjoy freedom, co-existence, welfare and equal rights. Afghan people remain grateful to valuable contribution and role of German organizations in Afghanistan as the 14 years, Germany’s wide-ranging cooperation has brought positive changes to the lives of Afghan people.

We congratulate the 100 years of friendship between Afghanistan and Germany to all people of the both countries and hope that the close relations between two countries will remain sustainable and continue for another century.
